Trump Conditions Iran Strikes on Nuclear and Maritime Talks
President Donald Trump warned Iran that US forces remain ready for strikes while missile attacks hit Saudi Arabia and Iraq's energy infrastructure.
President Donald Trump stated that further military strikes on Iran are highly unlikely if negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran's nuclear program progress. While signaling a preference for diplomacy, Trump noted that US forces remain locked and loaded. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi countered that diplomatic efforts have stalled as US officials assess recent election results.
Regional instability intensified with coordinated attacks on energy infrastructure. Saudi Arabia intercepted ballistic and cruise missiles targeting Riyadh, resulting in debris damage to a Saudi Aramco building. In Iraq, a drone attack struck the Khor Mor gas field. To mitigate estimated losses of $60 billion, the Iraqi government reached an agreement with the US to route oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz.
Maritime and territorial tensions grew as tankers were reported struck or on fire in the Strait of Hormuz, and four explosions occurred on Iran's Qeshm island. Simultaneously, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz asserted that the mission to neutralize Iran's nuclear threat remains incomplete.
