Benjamin Netanyahu Rejects Trump-Brokered Gaza Peace Road Map

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a peace road map for the Gaza Strip on Sunday, stalling a proposal brokered by President Donald Trump's Board of Peace. The agreement, which Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups accepted last month, required Palestinian factions to decommission heavy weapons, relinquish security control, and exit governance in exchange for an international stabilization force.

Under the terms, Israel would have halted airstrikes, withdrawn its military forces, and permitted the reconstruction of the enclave. However, Netanyahu conditioned any Israeli withdrawal on the prior completion of Palestinian disarmament. This demand creates a deadlock, as Hamas is unlikely to agree to disarm before a withdrawal due to internal resistance and the risk of losing negotiation leverage.

Critics claim Netanyahu's rejection is motivated by his own political survival and pressure from government ministers who want to establish illegal settlements within Gaza.
