Iranian Interior Minister Visits Pakistan Amid Declared War With US

Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Islamabad on Monday for high-level talks with Pakistani officials, including Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The visit follows an invitation from Naqvi to discuss bilateral relations, border cooperation, and regional security.

The diplomatic mission occurs as military exchanges between Iran and the United States escalate. President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the Islamic Republic of Iran is now engaged in a "full-scale war" with the U.S. This escalation follows allegations by Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam that the United States violated international law and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by attempting to seize control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Pakistan is currently attempting to mediate between Tehran and Washington to prevent a broader regional conflict in West Asia. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that the diplomatic apparatus has been active and receiving messages from mediators to address the crisis.
