Trump Threatens to Cut Ukraine Aid Over Refinery Strikes

Donald Trump threatened to suspend weapons and intelligence sharing with Ukraine to pressure Kyiv into stopping drone strikes on Russian oil refineries.

The administration of Donald Trump has threatened to suspend weapons supplies, intelligence sharing, and the delivery of spare parts for F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. These measures aim to pressure Kyiv to cease its drone strikes on Russian oil refineries. Ukrainian government sources further indicate that the Trump administration has threatened to impose sanctions on the Ukrainian armed forces.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the pressure, arguing that it is more difficult to stop Vladimir Putin than to pressure other parties. Zelenskyy also questioned why the United States had not established a diesel supply deal with Ukraine.

These diplomatic tensions occur as Russian forces continue attacks across Ukraine. Recent strikes targeted a power plant and residential areas in Kharkiv and Pisochyn, resulting in civilian casualties. In Rivne, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent attempting to bomb a bus of soldiers. The agency also identified over 40,000 surveillance cameras potentially used by Russia to prepare missile strikes.
