Putin Welcomes India and China Peace Offers for Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed offers from Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping to facilitate peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the Indian and Chinese leaders actively offered their good offices to help find a solution during bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

These diplomatic overtures follow failed peace brokerage efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump. In a separate bilateral meeting, Modi and Putin discussed expanding trade ties through the Programme for Economic Cooperation 2030, with a specific focus on energy, defense, infrastructure, technology, and culture.

The leaders also addressed regional instabilities in the Black Sea and West Asia, noting their impact on maritime trade and the safety of Indian seafarers. During these discussions, Modi reaffirmed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable paths to resolving conflicts.
