Zelenskyy Reports Intelligence Gap Amid Trump Energy Ceasefire Claims

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported a lack of early warnings for Russian missile strikes while Donald Trump claimed to have brokered an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine received no early warning from international partners before a Russian ballistic missile strike hit civilian infrastructure in Kyiv on Monday. The attack was part of a larger barrage of over 100 weapons that struck multiple cities, including a residential building in Kharkiv where four people were killed and 41 wounded. Other strikes targeted an educational institution in Rivne and a residential building in Murovane near Lviv.

The intelligence gap sparked concerns that the United States may have restricted data sharing. Reports indicate the Trump administration pressured Kyiv to stop striking Russian oil refineries to facilitate a deal for Russian fuel imports. While Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha clarified that intelligence sharing continues, some experts suggested the failure may have been due to the specific Russian weaponry used.

Simultaneously, President Donald Trump claimed he brokered an energy ceasefire to protect infrastructure, linking the move to an agreement to import Russian diesel to lower U.S. fuel prices. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has respected this purported truce, but he criticized Russia for continuing its attacks on energy facilities. The Russian Defense Ministry denied targeting civilians, claiming its strikes hit military-industrial and logistics sites, and reported shooting down 604 Ukrainian drones, including a large-scale attack on the Moscow region.
