Donald Trump proposed a trilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to take place during an economic forum in Shenzhen next month. The meeting aims to initiate a process toward nuclear detente between the United States, Russia, and China.

Trump stated the primary objective of the gathering is "to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearization." While the proposal comes during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Trump clarified that the summit's focus is "not so much for Ukraine."
