Indian Foreign Minister Visits Ukraine and Poland for Peace Talks

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Ukraine and Poland from September 3 to 5, 2026. In Kyiv, Jaishankar will hold bilateral consultations with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and in Warsaw, he will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to discuss regional developments and enhance bilateral relations.

This diplomatic mission follows a meeting on August 31 between Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek. During that encounter, Modi stated that the parties must move from a situation of "endless war" to an "end of war."

In preparation for the visit, Ukraine's First Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Sergiy Kyslytsya, met with Indian Ambassador Anjani Kumar to discuss India's potential role in resolving the conflict. Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that an Indian citizen was among 12 people killed in a recent Russian aerial assault across Ukraine.
