Russia's Volodin Proposes AI Council at BRICS Forum
Vyacheslav Volodin proposed an artificial intelligence expert council and advocated for a multipolar world during the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi.
Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin addressed the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi on October 26, where he proposed the creation of an expert council on artificial intelligence. Volodin argued that such a council would allow member states to share legislative practices and ensure the technology serves humanity rather than controlling it.
During his address, Volodin characterized BRICS as a key pillar of an emerging multipolar world and a just world order. He noted that the group now contributes approximately 40 percent to global GDP and represents nearly a quarter of global exports, with internal trade reaching $1.2 trillion. He emphasized that member states remain united in recognizing the right of each nation to a sovereign path of development despite differing political and economic systems.
On the sidelines of the forum, Volodin met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convey greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also held bilateral discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to explore opportunities for deepening parliamentary linkages and strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and India.
