US Brokers Trilateral Peace Talks Between Russia and Ukraine

The United States will mediate trilateral negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11 to discuss security guarantees and a potential end to the war.

The United States will mediate trilateral talks between delegations from Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11. Led by Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the negotiations aim to address de-escalation, post-war security arrangements, and a comprehensive peace agreement. The diplomatic push follows separate meetings conducted by Witkoff with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Oslo and Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Significant obstacles remain as both nations continue large-scale strikes on energy and military infrastructure. Russia demands the cession of the Donbas and other annexed regions, as well as Ukraine's neutrality and withdrawal from NATO. President Zelenskyy has rejected ceding 25 percent of Ukrainian territory but expressed openness to a ceasefire that freezes fighting along current front lines, provided the U.S. and Europe provide ironclad security guarantees.

Parallel to the peace efforts, the Trump administration has shifted policy toward Moscow, signing a deal to return Russian diesel to global markets and exempting Russia from certain sanctions. These moves, alongside reports of restricted Ukrainian access to Starlink and Starshield satellite services, have strained relations between Washington and Kyiv. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump is credited with securing a localized humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky, Kherson region, starting October 29.

U.S. negotiators are currently meeting in Brussels with representatives from France, Germany, Britain, the European Union, and NATO to coordinate reconstruction support and security frameworks ahead of the Abu Dhabi summit.
