Trump Threatens Iranian Infrastructure After Missile Attacks on US Bases

The United States and Iran are facing an escalation of hostilities after Iran launched a series of precise missile and drone attacks against US military bases and infrastructure in the Gulf. These strikes included an attack on the Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan that killed three US soldiers, utilizing Chinese satellite imagery and Russian-style tactical maneuvers to bypass depleted US interceptor stockpiles.

Donald Trump responded by announcing that the US is considering a massive attack on Iran following the breakdown of a ceasefire. On July 23, Trump declared that any Iranian attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz would result in the US bombing and destroying a bridge or power plant, including targets within Tehran. Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf countered by warning that no infrastructure would be safe if Iranian security is not ensured.

While US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth informed Congress that China and Russia are aiding Iran, Trump claimed that Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin personally assured him they would not sell weapons to Tehran. Trump stated he takes these leaders at their word, though he warned that arming Iran would be contrary to their own best interests.
