Donald Trump Endorses 36 Texas Republicans for Midterms
Donald Trump endorsed 36 Republican candidates in Texas statewide and congressional races, notably excluding the Texas Railroad Commissioner contest.
President Donald Trump endorsed 36 Texas Republicans for the November midterm elections in an announcement made via Truth Social on Wednesday. The list covers 36 of 46 statewide races, including endorsements for Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton, as well as 30 congressional districts.
Trump excluded 10 races from the list, including the Texas Railroad Commissioner contest. Republican candidate Bo French did not receive an endorsement and has faced criticism for a racially charged social media post targeting South Asian students.
Following the announcement, a scheduled Railroad Commissioner debate in Dallas was canceled. The Dallas Press Club canceled the event after French claimed he never agreed to participate, though the organization's notes suggested otherwise. Democratic candidate Jon Rosenthal responded to the situation, stating that the lack of an endorsement from Trump is a sign that French is "unfit to lead."
