Democratic Candidates Hinojosa and Talarico Hold Final Texas Rallies
Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico campaigned across Texas, targeting billionaire influence and public education ahead of the November 3 elections.
Democratic candidates Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico held a series of final campaign events across Texas to target undecided voters before the November 3 midterm elections. On October 28, Hinojosa held a rally at the EPIC Railyard in El Paso, where she pledged to fire Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath on her first day in office to protect public schools.
The momentum continued on October 29 with a joint rally in Dallas. Hinojosa, who trails incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott, and Talarico, who holds a narrow lead over Republican Ken Paxton in the U.S. Senate race, focused their platform on financial affordability and corruption. Talarico claimed that billionaire megadonors and super PACs, including Elon Musk, have spent more than $200 million to oppose their campaigns.
Hinojosa specifically criticized the relationship between Governor Abbott and Musk, highlighting her legal efforts to obtain communications between the two. While the governor's office dismissed the legal action as a "sham lawsuit," Hinojosa suggested the communications would show the governor "sold us out." Meanwhile, Ken Paxton countered the Democratic push with a "Come and Take It" tour and rallies featuring Donald Trump as early voting concluded on October 30.
