Paxton and Talarico Hold Dueling Rallies Across Texas
Senate candidates Ken Paxton and James Talarico are holding competing campaign events across Texas as early in-person voting begins.
U.S. Senate candidates Ken Paxton and James Talarico held competing rallies in Fort Worth on Monday to mark the start of in-person early voting. During the event, which featured guest speaker Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Paxton accused Talarico of being a radical on social and economic issues, specifically targeting his views on transgender children and tax increases.
Talarico responded by characterizing Paxton as the most corrupt politician in Texas, citing allegations of securities fraud and a $27 million increase in Paxton's net worth during his time in office. Talarico is currently conducting a statewide bus tour titled the Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Tour, which includes an advertisement featuring cast members from the series Friday Night Lights.
The candidates will face off again in Lubbock on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Talarico is scheduled to hold a community rally at Texas Tech University's Frazier Alumni Pavilion at 7 p.m., sponsored by the student organization Democrats for Texas. This event coincides with a visit to Lubbock by Donald Trump, who is campaigning for Paxton earlier that afternoon. While Texas has not sent a Democrat to the Senate since 1993, recent polling shows Talarico holding a narrow lead of 48 percent to 46 percent.
