President Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon on April 23, 2026, following direct ambassador-level talks at the White House. This diplomatic engagement marked the first direct contact between the two nations in decades. While the extension aims to stabilize the region, it follows an initial 10-day truce that began on April 16 and was characterized by frequent violations from both sides.
