Narendra Modi Visits Central Asia for SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to attend the SCO Summit and hold bilateral talks with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a four-day diplomatic visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from August 29 to September 1, 2026. The itinerary begins in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where Modi will hold delegation-level talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to review strategic partnerships regarding energy, defense, and trade.

Modi will then travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit from August 31 to September 1. On the sidelines of the summit, he is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting with Putin follows a recent visit to Moscow by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, during which the Russian leader assured India of continued fertilizer supplies.

This diplomatic tour serves as a precursor to the BRICS summit, which India will host in New Delhi on September 12-13.
