Nvidia CEO Joins Trump-Xi Dinner to Discuss Chip Sales

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang attended a state dinner between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to gauge the potential for resuming the sale of high-end AI chips in China. The company currently faces restrictions on its latest Blackwell chips, preventing it from accessing billions of dollars in potential revenue from the Chinese AI startup sector.

While the Trump administration has permitted the shipment of H200 AI chips to approved Chinese customers, these are older-generation products. Furthermore, Chinese authorities have implemented their own restrictions on H200 shipments.

Gary Cohn, IBM vice chair and former economic adviser to President Trump, argued against easing these restrictions. He stated that the United States must maintain its competitive advantage in chip manufacturing and technology to offset China's advantages in infrastructure development and capital costs.
