Israeli Strikes Kill Four Children and Adults in Gaza

Israeli military strikes killed four people in Gaza, including two children, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened increased operations over kite flights into Israel.

Israeli strikes and tank fire killed at least four people across the Gaza Strip on Monday, including a 4-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl. The casualties occurred in the Bureij refugee camp, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis. The Israeli military reported targeting a Hamas special forces militant and weapons storage facilities located inside mosques in Gaza City and Deir al-Balah.

These operations occurred as Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to increase strikes after kites from Gaza were discovered in an Israeli kibbutz. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem dismissed the kites as "essentially children’s toys" and accused Israel of using them as a pretext to justify continued aggression.

The escalation follows a request from U.S. negotiator Jared Kushner for the Israeli Prime Minister to draw down military operations to facilitate a ceasefire deal.
