Russia Threatens British Military Sites Over Missile Technology Transfers

Russia threatened to strike British military facilities after Prime Minister Andy Burnham authorized the transfer of classified Storm Shadow missile technology to Ukraine.

The Federal Government of Russia has threatened to strike British military installations both inside and outside Ukraine in retaliation for the United Kingdom and France providing missile technology to Kyiv. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned that Western nations are playing with fire and bear direct responsibility for Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory.

The escalation follows a decision by Prime Minister Andy Burnham to provide classified information enabling Ukraine to manufacture its own Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles. Russia also criticized a deal by the French company Safran SA to supply guidance systems for the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, claiming London and Paris are attempting to absolve themselves of responsibility for deep strikes into Russia.

During a visit to Kyiv, Prime Minister Burnham defended the support, stating Britain will remain a constant for Ukraine. Meanwhile, CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly visited Moscow to warn the Kremlin against attacking NATO allies following intelligence that Russia might test the alliance with a limited assault or cyber-attack. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed these reports as scare-story material, though he acknowledged that U.S.-Russia relations are in a deep crisis.

In response to the heightened tensions, Poland has increased military readiness by deploying South Korean Black Panther tanks near the Kaliningrad region. Simultaneously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has requested additional interceptor missiles and funding to address a 27 billion gap in resources.
