Meanwhile, a senior Canadian official indicated that Ontario Premier Doug Ford's opposition to concessions regarding provincial liquor boards may have played a role. Carney denied that Ford caused the failure, asserting that the federal government held ultimate responsibility for the decision to end the talks.
