Donald Trump Campaigns in Texas and Carolinas Ahead of Midterms
President Donald Trump held rallies in Texas and scheduled events in South Carolina to support Republican candidates before the November 3 midterm elections.
President Donald Trump conducted a series of campaign stops in Texas on October 27 to support Republican candidates in high-stakes battleground races. In Lubbock and Corpus Christi, Trump campaigned for U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who is locked in a neck-and-neck contest against Democrat James Talarico. The Corpus Christi event prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to issue a temporary no-fly zone. Trump also planned a visit to Port Arthur with Secretary of State Marco Rubio to showcase a Venezuelan crude oil tanker destined for Texas refineries.
Other Republican candidates, including Representative Monica De La Cruz, attended the Texas events as early voting participation surpassed 20 percent. While Vice President JD Vance was originally scheduled for a trip to Corpus Christi on Thursday, he canceled that appearance to focus on North Carolina. Vance is scheduled to speak in Kinston on October 28 at an event hosted by the Trump 47 Committee, following previous stops in Hendersonville.
Trump is also returning to the Carolinas to bolster GOP efforts. He is scheduled to hold a rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on October 29. This follows a previous appearance in Pendleton for Senator Darline Graham, whom Trump has consistently supported since her appointment to the Senate in July.
