Trump Weighs Massive Attack on Iran Amid Regional Escalation

President Donald Trump is considering a massive military attack against Iran, describing the potential operation as bigger than ever before. This escalation follows 13 consecutive nights of U.S. air strikes targeting Iranian maritime capabilities, air defenses, and infrastructure, including bridges and power plants in Tehran and the Shalamcheh border crossing. To support these options, the U.S. has surged special operations forces, B-1 long-range bombers, and combat medics into the Middle East and Germany.

Iran has responded with retaliatory missile and drone strikes against U.S. military assets in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain, including an electronic warfare unit at Al-Adiri base. Simultaneously, Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked two Saudi oil tankers, the Encelia and the Layla, in the Red Sea and declared a maritime blockade of Saudi ports at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. These combined disruptions have driven Brent crude oil prices above $100 per barrel.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the U.S. strategy as a head for an eye, asserting that Iran's economy is a disaster and that the leadership is not yet ready for a deal. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that any Iranian attack on Israel would result in a crushing blow, while United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the region is teetering on the edge of the unimaginable. While the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to halt military action, the Senate blocked the measure, leaving Trump with full operational authority.
