Zelenskyy Seeks Ballistic Missile Interceptors from Lockheed Martin

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to purchase ballistic missile interceptors from Lockheed Martin to enhance Ukraine's defenses against Russian missiles and drones.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine intends to purchase ballistic missile interceptors from the American defense company Lockheed Martin. During a meeting with company representatives in Kyiv on October 19, 2026, the Ukrainian president stated that the country aims to acquire these interceptors to protect more lives as the company ramps up production.

Beyond interceptors, the discussions focused on expanding the supply of F-16 aircraft and Patriot systems. Zelenskyy identified these assets as critical for defending against Russian jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles.

The two parties also discussed establishing a Lockheed Martin presence within Ukraine. This local presence would facilitate the maintenance and repair of F-16 aircraft inside the country, reducing the need to send aircraft abroad for servicing.
