Russia Warns Europe Over French Ballistic Missile Test
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Europe of obsession with militarization following a French strategic ballistic missile test launch.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Europe of being obsessed with militarization and attempting to transform the European Union from an economic bloc into a military-political one. Peskov characterized this shift as a dead-end path rooted in confrontation with Russia, stating that Moscow is taking necessary security measures and remains on alert.
The Russian warnings follow a Tuesday test launch of an M51.3 strategic ballistic missile by France off the coast of Finistere. French President Emmanuel Macron described the launch as a "loud and clear message."
Despite the tensions, Peskov emphasized that Russia remains open to dialogue. He noted that a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump would be promptly coordinated if an initiative is made. Additionally, Peskov expressed gratitude for a three-part peace plan for Ukraine proposed by the Government of India.
