Zelenskiy Joins Oslo Peace Talks Amid US Tensions

Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Oslo for peace negotiations with European leaders and US envoys as tensions rise over American military support for Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Oslo, Norway, on Tuesday for high-level negotiations to end the war with Russia. Co-hosted by Norway and Finland, the talks include Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. The meetings aim to develop a peace proposal and a new security architecture for Europe, with participation from the European Union, NATO, and the E4 nations—Britain, France, Germany, and Poland.

U.S. special envoys participated in the consultations at Zelenskiy's request, with Jared Kushner joining virtually due to illness. Following the Oslo meetings, a U.S. envoy is expected to travel to Russia to present the jointly developed proposals to President Vladimir Putin and negotiate the release of detained American citizen Stephen Hubbard.

The diplomatic push occurs as relations between Washington and Kyiv deteriorate. Donald Trump has criticized Zelenskiy, claiming Ukraine has given nothing in return for U.S. support and suggesting the Ukrainian leader be replaced as negotiator. Zelenskiy has countered by alleging the U.S. is intentionally slowing military aid by throttling Starshield satellite speeds, halting intelligence sharing, and delaying Patriot missile deliveries. While U.S. officials deny these claims, Zelenskiy suggested Trump's decision to waive Russian sanctions to lower fuel prices puts the U.S. president on the wrong side of history.
